We have recently been asked to provide a quotation for the works required on site to assess a potential water leak. Water leaks can be very difficult to predetermine the cause and price due to various causes of leaks. We find the best option is to attend site and carry out the following tests to predetermine the cause of the leak.
Visual Inspection
We will attend site to carry out a visual inspection of the fixtures throughout the premises and confirm if we identify a probable cause of where the leak may be originating. Where possible, gain access to the ceiling and or duct, etc. from below if necessary and be able to come up with a cause of action to resolve the leak.
Price to attend site for the initial inspection also allows for 30 minutes on site to analyse.
After our initial visual inspection further tests may be required to be carried out to predetermine the cause of the leak. As finalising a firm price for quoting is quite difficult to confirm 100% the scope of works we have staged visits below with various tests that may be required.
If the leak is in the vicinity of the shower we will carry out the following tests to assure the cause of the leak is not coming from the shower recess of breach.
This test involves:
* Static test on the shower breach.
* Visual inspection of tapware and confirm leaks.
* Fill the shower recess with dye and carry out static test on recess to confirm if leaky.
* Confirm a report of findings.
If we identify that the leak looks to be coming from a water service, which has been advised by tenants and is clearly visible we would prepare to isolate the main water control and cut out or weld over the affected area of pipework.
All works will be carried out to Australian Standards AS3500 and will be within OH&S Guidelines.
